Greater range of motion
Restore the mobility your joints were built for — hips, shoulders, hamstrings, lower back.
Mobile assisted stretching · Richmond, VA
One-on-one assisted stretching sessions in your home or office. Designed to restore mobility, release tension, and help you move the way your body wants to.
The approach
Assisted stretching is a hands-on practice where a trained professional guides your body through targeted, supported stretches you simply can't reach on your own. You relax. We do the work.
Each session is built around how you actually feel that day — where you're tight, where you're sore, where you want to move better. No class to keep up with. No gym to drive to. Just focused, personal time spent giving your body what it needs.
Most clients leave feeling 2–3 inches taller, looser through the hips and shoulders, and noticeably less wound-up than when we started. Here's what we work toward together.
Restore the mobility your joints were built for — hips, shoulders, hamstrings, lower back.
Quiet the tightness from desk days, training, and long drives — neck, traps, hip flexors, IT band.
Bounce back faster from training, long runs, lifts, or just a hard week of being on your feet.
Open up the front body, wake up the back body, and reset the imbalances that keep pulling you forward.
Slow, supported stretching downshifts you out of fight-or-flight — most clients describe it as deeply restorative.
I bring the mat, the props, the music. You don't change clothes, drive across town, or shower in someone else's locker room.
Sessions
Every session is private, hands-on, and tailored — whether it's a one-on-one visit in your home or an on-site session for your team.

How it works
The whole point is that I make it effortless. You don't pack a bag. You don't show up early. You barely have to plan.
Text or email a few times that work and where you'd like the session — home, office, gym. I confirm within the day.
I arrive with everything we need: padded mat, bolsters, straps, clean towel. Wear what you'd wear to a yoga class.
We start with a quick check-in, then I guide you through every stretch. You don't have to remember the moves — you just breathe.
About
I'm Matthew. I started Stretch RVA because I kept seeing the same thing — strong, active people in their 30s, 40s, and 50s who were doing the right things, but still felt tight, achy, and locked-up. Group classes were too generic. PT was for recovery, not maintenance. There was a gap.
Assisted stretching fills that gap. It's hands-on, personal, and built around how your body is moving today. After every session my goal is the same: you walk away looser, taller, and a little surprised at how good you feel.

FAQ
Have something specific I haven't covered? Text me — I'd rather answer it directly than guess what to put on a page.
Ask MatthewIn a massage, you're passive and a therapist works on your tissue. In assisted stretching, you stay engaged — I move your body through specific stretches you couldn't reach on your own, and you breathe through them. The result feels more like decompression and mobility work than relaxation alone, though most people leave deeply relaxed anyway.
About a 6'×8' patch of floor — a living room rug, bedroom floor, or open office space all work. I bring the padded mat, bolsters, and straps. You just wear something you'd wear to yoga or the gym.
Assisted stretching is fantastic for everyday tightness and general mobility. It's not a substitute for physical therapy if you're recovering from a recent injury or surgery. If you're working with a PT or doctor, send me a quick note about what's going on and we'll figure out whether a session is a good fit, or whether we should wait.
Once a week is the sweet spot for most clients — frequent enough to actually change tissue and habits, sustainable enough to keep going. Every other week works for maintenance. Athletes in heavy training often go twice a week during peak load.
The City of Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield, Short Pump, Glen Allen, Midlothian, and most surrounding neighborhoods within about 20 miles of downtown. Travel beyond that is a small per-mile fee — happy to come, just let me know.
Yes — and it's one of the better gifts for anyone over 30 who exists in a body. Just send a note and I'll put together a gift card you can hand over (digital or printable).
